Namwanje Desire (P.2)
Namwanje Desire is a cheerful 10-year-old girl in Primary 2. She lives in Kisigula Village with her mother and grandmother. When Desire was very young, her father left their family and moved to a place called Luwero. Since then, he has not been in touch with them.
Desire’s mother works hard to take care of the family, but it is not easy. She has four children to look after, as well as Desire’s grandmother. Without a job or a stable business, her mother struggles to provide for everyone. She grows some crops on a small piece of land and sells them to earn a little money, but it is not enough to cover all their needs. Paying Desire’s school fees is one of the biggest challenges. Desire would feel very happy and less worried if her school fees were paid on time.
Desire has big dreams, she is a talented athlete who loves running and enjoys being active. When she grows up, she wants to become a nurse so she can help people in her community. With support and encouragement, Desire is determined to make her dreams come true.
