Nakamya Merida (P.3)

Merida Nakamya is a bright and cheerful 10-year-old girl in Primary Three. She lives with her grandmother in a small village called Zzitwa. Life has not been easy for Merida, but she tries her best to stay strong and hopeful.

When Merida was very young, her mother left home to go to Kampala, and she has not returned since. Her father works hard, moving from place to place to find ways to earn a living. He visits them occasionally but cannot provide for them regularly. He only pays Merida's school fees once in a while. This leaves her grandmother, who has no job or business, struggling to take care of Merida.

Despite these challenges, Merida is a very smart girl. She has the potential to be the best in her class because of her intelligence and hard work. However, the difficulties at home affect her emotionally and socially.

She dreams of becoming a nurse one day so she can help others. In her free time, she enjoys playing netball with her friends, which brings her a lot of joy. Merida’s story shows her strength and determination, and with support, she could achieve great things in the future.
