Ssemujju Derick (P.2)

Ssemujju Derick is a bright and disciplined 10-year-old boy in Primary Two. He lives in Nsanzi village with his father and stepmother. Derick’s father is a hardworking man who depends on farming to support the family. Despite his efforts, it is difficult for him to pay school fees and provide the basic needs for everyone at home.

Derick is a smart student and does very well in class. At home, he helps with domestic work and is known for his good behavior both at school and in the village. Every day, he walks 3 to 4 kilometers to school and back, often returning home with no guarantee of a meal.

Even with these challenges, Derick remains hopeful and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. He is also an excellent football player and is one of the best in his school. With some help, Derick’s father’s struggles could be eased, giving this hardworking boy a better chance to achieve his dreams.
